Hadith 26 and 27:

Aisha (Raa) Narrated: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

” If somebody innovates something which is not present in our religion (of islamic monotheism), then that thing will be rejected”
(Sahih Bukhari Vol 3, Hadith no.861)

In another Hadith Aishah (Raa) Narrated: Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) said:

“Whoever performs a (good) deed which we have not ordered (anyone) to do (or is not in accord with or religion of Islamic Monotheism),then that deed will be rejected and not be accepted.”
(Sahih Bukhari, Vol 9, Chapter 20 before Hadith No 449)

Comments: For the acceptance of any righteous deeds it is stipulated that the following two basic conditions must be fullfilled:

  1. The intentions of doing such deeds must be totally for Allah’s sake only without any show-off or to gain praise or fame.
  2. Such a deed must be performed in accordance with the Sunnah of Allah’s Messenger Muhammad bin Abdullah (peace be upon him)

Hence it is very important for all muslims to learn the right way to perform any good deed other wise it will be rejected, thereby gaining knowledge about the sunnah is very important.
